Finding Peaceful Mental Health and Wellbeing
Over the past year, the pandemic has had a tremendous impact on our mental health. We have been faced with circumstances we would have never imagined in our lives – from loved ones falling ill, isolation, balancing work and our personal lives, to many other challenges.
I am continually impressed by the resilience shown during what has been an unbelievably difficult year and equally how people have supported each other through these difficult times.
I believe the best way to achieve Peaceful Mental Health/Wellbeing involves three simple ways which are “Walk, Talk and Support” to make a real difference. I have noticed a remarkable improvement in my wellbeing from regularly following these few steps i.e. Taking breaks, away from my screens at work, to going for a walk around my local area, talking to local neighbours and friends. I will also continue to speak up and check-in on those around me to make sure that they are coping well.
I have seen how the pandemic has impacted the mental health of close family members and I've had to learn how to provide support which I had never had to give previously and I too found the months of isolation, the monotony of life in lockdown with all the different challenges.
But there is one hugely positive outcome from all of this, it is that it has massively raised our collective awareness of the importance of mental health as we do to our physical health, and just as importantly, the mental health of family, friends and colleagues.
My Shows will highlight the importance of looking after your mental health, it is fundamental to our everyday lives, particularly as we transition back into ‘normal life’ or perhaps our ‘new normal’. I know that this transition may not be as simple as it seems, but the show will give you steps to achieve good mental health. Please always ask for help when you need it and support your family and friends if you can see that they may be struggling.
The awareness and support from my work made me realise to help and support and most importantly spread awareness within our community. The shows focussed on different aspects of Good Mental Health/Wellbeing i.e. Heart fullness, Art of Living, Mediation, Yoga, Spirituality etc The Professionals and people who are helping the community through charity work, who wanted to reach out to vulnerable people and spread awareness and support would be invited to join the shows and have conversations with them to share their experience, knowledge and get expert advice and provide as much support to our community as possible to make our life a happy, positive and peaceful place. The shows cannot be completed without adding fun elements, which involve playing our special guests favourite songs.
At the end I just want to say that it is really OK not to be OK. Please don’t suffer in silence if you feel your mental health is suffering, please ask for help.
Thank you.
