Dharmik Rangoli
[ धार्मिक रंगोलि ]
A fortnightly program dedicated to spreading knowledge about colourful festivals and traditions.
The literal translation of Dharmik Rangoli is religious Rangoli (the Radio). However, my preferred translation and hence the theme of my program is ‘colourful way of life’ because, Rangoli is colourful and Dharmik stands for way of life.
I want to elaborate various festivals and rituals/traditions attached to those. Sadly, other than big festivals like Deepavali, Navaratri, or Holi, we seem to have lost several small but unique festivals, and if we do not propagate the knowledge, our future generations will not even know about these.
Let me give an example:
We all know about Ganesh Chaturthi, the festival dedicated to Lord Ganesh. But how many of us know about the festival Gauri Pooja (observed the day before Ganesh Chaturthi) and Rishi Panchami (observed the day after Ganesh Chaturthi)? Both these festivals have culture, heredity and customs attached to these.
There are beautiful stories to share, there are unique food items / delicacies associated with festivals, there are unique rituals to follow – How colourful it will be sharing all these with the community!
Other than explaining the relevance of these festivals and associated rituals, I plan to select unique songs and music associated with these festivals. I also plan to explain unique dishes associated with some of the festivals, share the knowledge of how to make those (so there is an element of recipe and cooking also covered in my programs).
On occasions I plan to invite special guests who can explain about these festivals. Listening to an elderly person, we can learn a lot.
The aim of Dharmik Rangoli is to spread the knowledge about colourful way of life, explain the rich culture and heritage to community we live in and educate our children about these festivals and traditions so that they appreciate the community value behind these rituals.
Please join me on Dharmik Rangoli on Rangoli Radio, every fortnight.
